The Job

1. Purpose of the Job
   To ensure that survey data in use meets project Standards. Monitor site survey activities and report appropriately.
2. Principle accountabilities
   • To assist Senior Geomatic Surveyor in providing measurement and engineering survey services.
   • Carry out surveillance of contractor’s survey procedures including on site checks.
   • To maintain a computerised survey data base and ensure that all geomatic data meets the Project standards. Using in particular Bentley and Leica software for the production of 3D models from traditional survey and point cloud data.
   • Carry out calculations; field and office checks to ensure all Project standards are met.
   • To advise on the control and monitoring procedures for structural movement as required by the Project.
   • To undertake site surveys for design and checking purposes and produce drawings or reports for the designers or engineers.
3. Main challenges of the job
   • The jobholder monitors engineering, deformation monitoring and measurement survey processes and setting out, carried out by contractors as required by the Project.
   • Ensuring the base grid is maintained.
   • Verification of interfacing cross project setting out.
   • Compliance of contractor submitted data.
   • Interpreting and manipulating cloud scans to produce information from the data for use by the project.
4. Dimensions & Interfaces (both internal and external)
   • To assist Senior Geomatic Surveyor in providing geomatic services.
   • Carries out surveillance of contractors survey procedures including on site checks
   • Checks incoming geomatic data from external sources and ensures that it meets
     project standards.
   • Liase with engineers, designers and other relevant persons to determine geomatic surveying requirements
   • Is responsible for the interpretation of all cloud point data held by the protect and
     producing drawing and reports using this data.
   • He/she maintains storage and retrieval systems, ensuring that Project Survey
     Information is available to all members of the team.
5. Person Specification
   • He/She should have experience of engineering survey on major construction projects, with an appropriate degree level qualification or similar.
   • He/she should have knowledge of 3 dimensional CAD and of the potential business benefits associated with these computer aided techniques.
   • He/she should have knowledge of structural movement monitoring using modern technology.
   • He/she should have knowledge of GPS and laser scanning technology including calculations.
