Job Description

Working on major London Underground project, you will install and maintain control systems and associated auxiliary systems, which form a vital part of the operation of the railway network.

Key Duties:

Compliance with health and safety legislations, codes and regulations.

Ensure work carried out in accordance with IEE principles.

Install, pre-commission and assist in the commissioning of new control systems equipment.

In the event of design variations being made during any of these stages, provide the SCADA Engineers with all relevant information to enable wiring sheets, circuit diagrams and schematics to be updated.

Modify existing control systems equipment to meet changing plant requirements and update records thereafter.

Reinstate and commission control systems equipment that has been taken out of service to enable installation of new or additional equipment.

Look into and fix faults on control systems equipment and auxiliary systems. Prepare reports that detail the corrective action taken and where necessary recommend any further remedial action.

Adjust and repair the electronic and electro-mechanical subsystems of control systems equipment.

Undertake the preventive maintenance of control systems equipment and associated auxiliary devices.

Assist with installation and maintenance records.

Design the hardware and software needed for testing electronic printed circuit cards on the Automatic Testing Equipment.

Assist in the design, development, and manufacture of special devices and electronic circuits for use by the Control Systems Section.

Provide specialist advice and expertise during the manufacture and assembly of prototype devices and circuits.

Assist in special tests in connection with equipment maintained by control systems.

Assist in the preparation of specifications and drawings for control systems projects.

Participate in the acceptance testing of new equipment.

Monitor work achieved and report on this through regular discussions, checklists, written reports and on-site inspections.

You must have an HND, HNC (or equivalent) in electronics engineering or a related subject. In addition, a full driving licence is essential as is a proven track record working with control systems (such as PLCs), SCADA telecommunication or IT Systems and, ideally, electrical plant, switchgear or substation equipment.
