Permanent Construction Manager – Top Tier Main Contractor – Rail Environment / Civil Infrastructure
Job Description
Be part of the Australian construction boom which is being driven across many sectors within the civil engineering industry from transport infrastructure upgrades (road, rail, and airports), mining and resources extraction, port facility upgrades. A massive amount of development and investment is about to happen nationally within the rail sector, in order to update and modernise the existing infrastructure which has fuelled a distinct shortage of rail experienced engineering resource.

The company is a top tier contractor who services both government and private clients nationally across Australia and also internationally; delivering large scale multi-faceted civil engineering projects. They have secured a variety of rail focussed works throughout Australia and for this position have been short listed for projects on a high profile infrastructure project within the state of Victoria. Project work typically comprises the tendering, then if successful delivering of track/p-way, comms and signalling, heavy civil engineering elements, new station rebuilds and refurbishment/modernisation of existing stations.
Main Duties
As the Construction Manager you will be working very closely with the Project Manager to effectively manage the construction team to deliver a project to demanding time/cost scales and to the highest of quality standards. Thru your team you be expected to manage the project to ensure strict H&S regulations are met within a Railway environment, issue and approve any instruction and variations which are issued to the specialist sub-contractors that are engaged by the company, agree final measurements and valuation of contract works and assessment claims, plan and co-ordinate possession works, amongst other duties.
Requirements
The successful candidate will bring to the role;
- 10 years + experience, and hold a relevant degree in civil engineering or similar, with a keen interest in candidates with previous large scale rail project experience
- Previous demonstrated experience in delivering technically challenging rail projects through the effective management of a large multi-faceted construction professional team.
- A firm grasp of standard forms of contract and how it relates to the works being carried out.
- A previously demonstrated knowledge and high level understanding of commerciality relating to a project.
- A good understanding and demonstrative experience of high level civil engineering and construction methodology.
- A demonstrated approach in driving and affecting H&S policy, initiatives & standards on sites.
- A solutions-orientated attitude with a desire to deliver a project to the highest of standards in every aspect.

A package which is in line with the technical nature of the project which includes Salary of between £90k – £110k + package which includes,10% Pension, Company Car, Assistance with accommodation, Assistance with visa requirements.
