Building Services Supervisor (Mechanical)
Temp to perm contract.
An opportunity has arisen for a Building Services Supervisor (Mechanical) to join the Maintenance Team at the University of Hertfordshire, as Building Services Supervisor (Mechanical) The right candidate will be self-motivated, flexible and have excellent customer service skills.
Supervising the in-house Maintenance Team and specialist contractors, your responsibilities will include:
· Managing the day to day operations of the University on behalf of the Department of Estates in relation to remedial and Reactive works carried out by the directly employed University Maintenance team
· Ensuring that all Mechanical equipment and associated controls are maintained as designed in accordance with statute requirements, legislation and good practices.
· To ensure the in-house maintenance team complies with the Performance Monitoring Regime (PMR) regularly meeting and reporting on KPI’s, delivering a high quality service
· To carry out internal quality and safety audits of the in-house and contracted works
· Managing mechanical maintenance within the portfolio of buildings on various University campuses
· Looking at outstanding issues within the plant and producing a schedule of repair / replacement on a Forward Maintenance Register
· Holding meetings with the team to discuss and review activity Providing “Safety Talks” to the maintenance team on a regular basis
· Prioritising tasks and allocating jobs to the mechanical maintenance team, ensuring necessary materials are available
· Issuing work permits, producing safe operating procedures and ensuring all HSE standards are met
· Assisting other departments within the Department of Estates in the design, supervision and project management of new installation services
Requirements for the Role:
· Either direct experience in a supervisory role or at least experience of leading a maintenance team
· Experience of managing planned and reactive maintenance
· Experience of BMS and work flow software (Helpdesk)
· Must be Mechanically biased
· Must possess and be able to demonstrate excellent communication and people skills
· Candidates will need to be HNC/HND qualified and a Time Served Mechanical Engineer.
