It’s great to see the Rail Recruiter web site being used so much… there’s lots more jobs going on, lots of applications being made and daily registrations just seem to be increasing all of the time. It’s quite clear that the principles on which Rail Recruiter is based – ie simple to use systems to provide access to the latest jobs, without over complicating the process, and importantly, making it freely available so that recruiters and employers want to use the site and advertise on it – are certainly working.
If you haven’t already done so – please tell your friends and colleagues about this site! The more people that use it, the better it will become.
Ok – that’s it. All of the live jobs from the ‘old’ site have now been migrated to the new site and we’re ready to go live.
Despite not having idibu integration for seamless job posting for agencies, the time it takes to use the new form is minimal, so it shouldn’t impact on the site to any great extent.
What users of the new Rail Recruiter web site will find, is that the system is much easier to use, far more flexible, and offers a much more user-friendly interface.
We’ve also now set up our Twitter account – @RailRecruiter1 - so those of you who use Twitter, can subscribe and be kept up to date with the latest jobs, as the Rail Recruiter site and the Twitter feed are now seamlessly linked.
Recruiters that used the site previously may be wondering whether the new site comes integrated with idibu or any of the other multiple job board posting tools – and the simple answer is, no, it doesn’t.
Apart from the technical and cost issues involved with integrating the site with one or more multi job board posting tools, it was felt that by keeping the job board as a direct posting tool only will ensure it is much more up to date, current and less likely to be ‘spammed’ by agencies and employers clicking away in their respective posting tools.
Posting a job on Rail Recruiter is a simple process using the quick and easy job posting form anyway – with most roles taking less than a minute to post.
When migrating the new site across, we realised there were a lot of jobs listed that just weren’t live any more, or hadn’t been updated in a long while – so, we’ve taken this opportunity to cleanse the database. Only currently live jobs are available on the system and each new job can only be posted for a maximum of 30 days, before it needs to be re-posted by the job poster – otherwise it will be classed as an expired vacancy. This way, job seekers can be assured they’re viewing the latest jobs.
The new Rail Recruiter site is featured packed and sure to impress. It’s much more user friendly and allows job seekers, employers and recruiters alike to manage their own content online – whether it’s a CV, a job listing, or a company profile on the associated Rail Recruiter directory.
The next stage is to redirect the domain name to the new site and allow for the worldwide DNS servers to update. This typically takes up to 48 hours. After that, it’s a case of informing all of our previous and existing users about the great new site and its powerful, dynamic features.
Beta testing of the new Rail Recruiter job board begins today. It’s an exciting time with lots of new features being introduced.
