Job description:
This is a fixed-term contract role until end of June 2008. (However, there is a good chance that the position will become permanent after 6 months).
It will involve night and weekend working in railway possessions, approximately 4 – 6 nights a week. The work will be located throughout the LNE territory, but north of Birmingham.
Work comprises being part of a 3-man survey team responsible for surveying track and structures within the LNE territory. Depending on experience, the successful candidate will either lead this team or act as an assistant on-site. All site equipment can be provided, but it would be ideal if the candidate has their own vehicle. The candidate will be expected to attend the Derby office at least once a week to collect site safety paperwork, undergo a site briefing and complete timesheet/expense reports. The candidate could be the responsible engineer on-site, responsible for briefing all site staff on the work to be undertaken.
Qualifications:
•        PTS required
•        Driving license essential
•        First Aid Appointed Person would be desirable
•        COSS/ES would be desirable
Experience of railway surveying / setting out, i.e. Hallade, Theodolite Straight, Levelling, Gauging, Structures etc.
